Alyssa Schulke

I In 2008 I worked in the world of the Fortune 100, while helping a friend plan her destination wedding on the side. And it occurred to me... planning travel is much more fun than planning “corporate strategy”! Five years later, my life’s joy is putting together complex travel itineraries, food and wine tours, outdoor and wildlife adventures, destination weddings and more.

I love the detail work, the research, finding all the pieces and pulling them together to make your travels the best you could ever imagine. Working with hotels and tour companies around the world is wonderful, but it all pales beside the pleasure of hearing words of gratitude from a satisfied client.

My own travels have taken me around the world: To Japan, where I feel I’m truly in a foreign land; and to Greece, where on first sight, I felt I’d found my home. The Galapagos were a remarkable journey – I love the small ship experience! – and I’ll go just about anywhere if I can get there by train!

Unlike many in our industry, I didn’t just “happen” into a career in travel. I came to it by choice, with a drive and a focus honed by years in corporate project management. Like project management, travel is a business of details, and it brings me great pleasure to create a complex itinerary that clients thought was “impossible”. With five years in the industry, I’m still learning. I think that’s an advantage; I bring a passion to the discovery of new places, the planning of new adventures. And it’s that passion that helps me make your travels an experience of a lifetime.

Florida Keys
After nearly ten years, I refreshed my memory with a great visit to the Keys. I focused on new inns and guesthouses and great places to eat!

New Orleans via Pullman Rail Journeys
It was so exciting to be on one of the inaugural journeys for the restored Pullman rail line! I love train travel, and clicking down the tracks from Chicago to New Orleans in a restored historic sleeper car was amazing.

Alaska on Holland America
I joined my family on a cruise to Alaska in May 2012. We tried to discover little off the beaten path excursions away from the crowds, unknown special sights and great places to eat. I think we succeeded.

Jamaica
I planned a destination wedding for my cousin in Jamaica and was lucky enough to tour a few lovely resorts while I was there. I believe Jamaica is one of the most affordable luxury destinations in the Caribbean, and this trip proved me right

Caribbean on Star Clippers
I sailed on Star Clippers to a series of small ports in the Caribbean. I loved the intimate feel of this ship, amazing crew and food, wonderful nightly history lessons, and seeing islands like Martinique and St. Barths.

Galapagos Islands
One of the best destinations I've ever experienced and a bucket list trip for wildlife lovers. I sailed on a small yacht called the Grace with only 16 people and we were able to see islands away from the crowds. What a spectacular experience!
