In 1987 I traveled abroad for the first time. In a small dormitory on the outskirts of Moscow I studied Russian and learned how to navigate a brand new everything. From the hourly chime of Moscow radio, to a silent winter snowfall in Red Square, I was an enthusiastic observer and participant. Three years later, I moved to Moscow when my employer, Bain & Co., opened a new office. Across my 30+ years as a corporate strategist I’ve gone swimming in Lake Bled, ridden elephants in Chiang Mai and danced the merengue in Caracas. I’ve shopped for winter coats in Kazakhstan, Berber rugs in Morocco and hanboks in Seoul. I was bitten by a scorpion in Manaus and jumped out of a moving taxi near Gorky Park (not all travel goes as planned…). I have been observer and organizer, guest and host, traveler and local citizen.
Having recently hung up my corporate strategy hat, I have joined the Travel Experts Team to do what I love most – what I have always loved: curating travel experiences that offer moments of genuine discovery. Adventures that create strong emotional bonds to the places and people that share in the moment. I do this with the support of a tremendous network, a love of travel research, an understanding of the value of the right partners, a global network of friends and colleagues, and a client side experience that recognizes the value of good listening/observation skills. Nothing thrills me more than a guest/client who returns from just bursting with excitement, photos, memories. Whose life has been changed forever by an out of the ordinary, beyond their expectations, experience.
