Julie Snyder

I have been a travel consultant for 27 years, most of which was spent personally managing a large account, Proscout, a model/talent search company.

More recently, I developed Equitrekking Travel, an equestrian travel agency which sprouted from a PBS travel show. It was a lot of work but so much fun!

My new passion is my luxury active travel company, Ride Bike Hike Indulge Travel, which connects customers with their perfect exhilarating activity in their dream destination.

I enjoy traveling with my husband, Dave, and our 14 year old son, Zachary. Travels with them inevitably involve skiing out West.

When not working or traveling, I can be found down at the barn, spending time with my horse Pomegranate, or volunteering with our local special needs rider program "Horsesense."

Casa de Campo, La Romana, Dominican Republic
My husband & I loved this completely self-contained resort set on a stunning Caribbean coast. There is never reason for boredom with the tennis, swimming, watersports, horseback riding, polo, and the legendary "Teeth of the Dog" golf course. We were continually amazed at the beauty of this resort.

Miraval Resort, Tucson, AZ
The Equine Experience, a 4 day intensive therapy program run by Wyatt Webb, changed my life. Miraval's lovely desert mountain setting, succulent but healthy food, myriad of spa treatments and endorphin-building activities all contributed to my transformation into a focused, content, and confident woman.

An Equestrian's Ireland
I rode at most of the major riding centers/trails in Ireland, and realized there's a riding vacation in Ireland for everyone, from beginner to professional rider. Ireland is just as I had dreamed: green and enchanting, and from the back of a horse is a great way to see it!

Costa Rica
Costa Rica is an adventurer's paradise! Our accommodation was a villa on a horse farm with incredible views of the Arenal Volcano. We rode through pineapple plantations, across rivers, into villages, through rain and mountainous cloud forests, tying our horses outside the local tavern for lunch. Only in Costa Rica!

Biking the California Wine Country
Biking the wine country in June, when tiny grapes emerge on their vines, was a beautiful time to explore the Napa, Sonoma, Alexander and Russian River Valleys, and Backroads does the trip with panache. Exhilarating biking was followed by the finest indulgences in wine, dining, and spa. Unforgettable!

Machu Picchu, Peru
The ultimate active vacation! I hiked the Inca Trail for 5 days with this reward: first glimpse of Machu Picchu at the Sun Gate. For a pampered adventure, there are lovely lodges placed strategically, each a day's hike apart. Words can't describe the spiritual strength of Machu Picchu.
